Permissions Guide: Full Admins v. Partial Admins
CultureBot gives teams flexibility in how permissions are assigned. We know not everyone needs—or wants—full control over settings. That’s why we distinguish between Full Admins and Partial Admins.
Full Admins
Full Admins have complete access to all CultureBot features and settings. They are typically Slack or Teams workspace admins, People Ops leaders, CEOs, or IT owners who manage the tool company-wide. Full Admins can:
- Install and uninstall CultureBot.
- Configure all settings across Celebrate, Connect, and Communicate categories.
- Manage integrations (e.g., Slack, Teams, HRIS sync).
- Control which channels CultureBot posts in.
- Access and export engagement reports.
- Assign other users as Full or Partial Admins.
Assigning Full Admins In Slack
In Slack, you assign "Full Admin" status within the CultureBot app's Home tab within the Slack App. You can select as many Slack users as you'd like to serve as a full admin.
Assigning Full Admins in Microsoft Teams
In Teams, you assign "Full Admin" status by:
- Selecting the App within your MS Teams Sidebar
- Clicking "CultureBot Home" tab
- Clicking the "User Permissions" Navigation Item
- While on the "Full Admins" tab, Click "Add Users"
- Select the users you want to be Full Admin
Partial Admins
Partial Admins have limited permissions, focusing on day-to-day feature management without access to global or sensitive settings. This is best for team managers, culture carriers, department leads, or other coordinators who need flexibility without full system control.
Assigning Partial Admins In Slack
In the CultureBot Slack App, you will see a button to "Visit Web Portal" for Reporting and Advanced Feature Setup. This will take you to the CultureBot Web Portal. And you will click on the "User Permissions" navigation item. You can also click on this link: User Permissions in Web App.

- Water Cooler Admins
- Intros Admins

- Select the users you want to be the Partial Admin for the selected feature
Assigning Partial Admins In Teams
In the CultureBot Teams App, click the "CultureBot Home" tab and navigate to the "Users Permissions" area. You can also click on this link: User Permissions in Web App.
To create a Partial Admin:
- IMPORTANT: CLICK TAB of the feature area where you want to assign a partial admin, the options are:

Please note that adding "partial admins" (as we call them) to any single feature area will give them the ability to create and edit just their own instances of (water cooler, intros, or surveys). They won't see the entire organization's list of water cooler instances, intro instances, or surveys – that is reserved for full admins only. When adding partial admins, their view of CultureBot will change so that they now see the options to create new instances of water cooler, and/or intros, and/or surveys.
