Intro to Peer Rewards

CultureBot’s Peer Rewards feature allows teammates to recognize each other’s contributions with shoutouts and reward points, all directly inside Slack. It’s designed to make recognition simple, fun, and continuous—without leaving your workspace.

What Are Peer Rewards?

  • Employees can send shoutouts to celebrate peers for collaboration, effort, or achievements.
  • Each shoutout can include points, which accumulate for the recipient.
  • Points can be redeemed for rewards that your admins define—like gift cards, company swag, or unique perks.
  • A leaderboard keeps recognition visible and friendly competition alive.

How Peer Rewards Work

1. Giving a Peer Reward

  • Use the /shoutout command in Slack or click Give Shoutout from the CultureBot home tab.
  • Choose the recipient(s).
  • Add your message of appreciation.
  • Assign points (optional, if enabled).
  • Send! The shoutout posts publicly in the selected channel.

2. Receiving a Peer Reward

  • Recipients are notified instantly in Slack.
  • Their points balance updates automatically.
  • Points can be tracked on the Rewards page and leaderboard.

3. Redeeming Points

  • Employees can open the Rewards Catalog to see available items or perks.
  • Redeem points directly in Slack for the reward of your choice.
  • Admins manage and fulfill rewards (physical or digital).

Admin Controls

Admins can configure:

  • Point values: Decide how many points a shoutout is worth.
  • Monthly limits: Set caps on how many points an employee can give or receive.
  • Rewards catalog: Create a mix of gift cards, experiences, or custom perks.
  • Leaderboards: Choose whether to display recognition activity company-wide or by team.

Best Practices

  • Tie shoutouts to values: Create custom categories (e.g., “Customer Hero” or “Bold Thinker”) that align with your culture.
  • Encourage consistency: Remind managers and peers to share recognition often, not just at milestones.
  • Make rewards meaningful: Offer a balance of fun perks and professional development opportunities.

Summary

Peer Rewards turn recognition into a daily habit. With points, leaderboards, and customizable rewards, employees feel seen and motivated while leaders reinforce a culture of appreciation—all inside Slack.
