Why Can't I Delete CultureBot Messages in Slack?
Why Can't I Delete CultureBot Messages?
If you're trying to delete a message posted by CultureBot — like a birthday announcement with the wrong date or a shoutout you'd like to remove — you may notice the option isn't available. This is a common point of confusion, and it has nothing to do with CultureBot itself.
This is controlled by your Slack workspace settings.
In Slack, the ability to delete messages (including messages posted by apps and bots) is governed by your workspace's deletion permissions. If those permissions are restricted, only Slack admins or owners will see the option to delete app messages — other users won't see it at all.
What to do:
Reach out to your Slack administrator and ask them to review your workspace's message editing and deletion settings. They can find the relevant controls here:
👉 Manage permissions for message editing and deletion
Once the right permissions are in place, eligible users will be able to delete CultureBot messages directly from Slack.
Still not working?
