May 2026, Product Release Notes: Employee Experience Updates

What's New: Experience Updates, May 2026

We've shipped several improvements to the Experience feature that make it easier to build, preview, and personalize journeys for your team.

Please note: the experience feature is available for CultureBot Pro plans, however you can get in touch with support@getculturebot.com for more information if you're interested in exploring this feature.

Pre-boarding Messages with Negative Day Offsets

You can now schedule experience steps before an employee's start date. When building a step, enter a negative number of days to send a message ahead of their first day. For this to work, the employee's Slack account must be established and their start date must be saved in the system, either manually or with our HRIS feature.

Examples:

-7 days: one week before start date

-1 day: the day before start date

0 days: start date (first day)

+30 days: 30 days after start date

This applies to experiences using Start Date as the anchor trigger.

New Experience Wizard with Visual Timeline

Creating and editing experiences now uses a step-by-step wizard. As you build out your steps, a visual timeline preview shows the calculated send dates for each message based on your configuration, so you can verify timing before anything goes out.

Steps can also be reordered using drag-and-drop directly in the wizard. No more copying and pasting content between steps to rearrange your workflow.

Smart Mentions: Replace Named Variables with @ Mentions

The previous variable system (where you'd define a named variable like "CEO" and reference it in messages) has been replaced with direct Slack mentions. In the message composer, type @ to search for and mention a specific person, the same way you'd mention someone in Slack.

This simplifies setup and ensures mentions always resolve to the right person.

Expanded Personalization Tokens

Type { in any message to see all available personalization tokens with autocomplete. Several new tokens have been added that can be configured in the your company profile.

• {bio}: employee's bio

• {birthday}: employee's birthday

• {skills}: employee's listed skills

• {interests}: employee's interests

• {linkedin}: LinkedIn profile URL

• {profile_link}: CultureBot profile link

Standard tokens like {manager}, {department}, {title}, {buddies}, and {location} continue to work as before.

Redesigned Experiences Table

The experiences management table has been redesigned with an improved layout and clearer controls for managing your existing experiences. You can clearly see who's enrolled in an experience, when an experience was last sent, when an experience was created, and more on the Experience Feature web page.
