Setting Up & Sending Shoutouts

CultureBot makes it simple to celebrate teammates and build a culture of appreciation directly in Slack. With Shoutouts you can recognize peers in seconds and keep positivity flowing across your team.

What are Shoutouts? Sometimes referred to generally as kudos, praise, props, or recognition, there are also other "app specific" names given for employee appreciation sent through Slack, Teams, or other workplace software, like Tacos, Fives, or Karma.

Shoutouts work right out of the box in Slack and Teams.

Sending A Shoutout In Slack

You can send a "Shoutout" from any Slack channel.

  1. Go to the channel of your choosing
  2. Type "/shoutout" and choose "Shoutout" from the menu that appears

A modal screen will pop up to compose your Shoutout:

  • Type: What you want to praise someone for/about
  • Give to: Select one or more people to shoutout
  • Channel: The channel where you want the shoutout posted
  • Reward Points to give: *If set up for your organization, you can give reward points
  • Shoutout message: Your message

You can make the shoutout anonymous (i.e. it is posted from "CultureBot" or the custom name of your bot), or you can leave this unchecked and make the shoutout from you personally. You can also choose to leave the graphic out and send the Shoutout as only text.
