Set Up the Shoutout Digest

A shoutout digest posts a roundup of recent shoutouts where your team already reads. Post a Friday recap in #general, give each office channel its own, or send every manager a private summary of their team. People see who was recognized and why, and the people who rarely give shoutouts see what good recognition looks like.
Please note: shoutout digests are available on Standard and Pro plans, post to Slack only, and are set up by full admins.
Who a Digest Can Cover
- The whole company: one roundup of everyone's shoutouts, posted in one or more channels such as #general.
- A channel or office: covers shoutouts given or received by the members of one channel, such as #austin-office, and posts there.
- Selected departments: each department gets its own digest in its own channel.
- Each manager, by DM: a private summary of their own team's shoutouts. See Digests for Managers.
How to Set Up a Shoutout Digest

- Open Digests & Nudges: In the CultureBot web app, go to Shoutouts, then Digests & Nudges, and click Add a digest.
- Who It Is For: Pick one of the four audiences above.
- Design: Choose the sections to include: Banner Image, Totals, Highlights, Values in action, Leaderboard, and Recipients. Then choose how many shoutouts to highlight (1 or 3), how many top names to list (3, 5, or 10), and whether to show points. You can also set your own headline, such as "Culture Carriers of the Month", add a message, or upload a banner.
- Where and When: Pick the channel, then Every week, Every 2 weeks, Every 4 weeks, or Monthly on a date you choose, plus the day and time.
- Turn On Digest: Click Turn on digest. CultureBot then offers ready-made nudges you can add, or you can continue without them.
The first digest posts at the next scheduled day and time. Every digest you set up appears under All settings on the same tab, where you can edit it, switch it off, or delete it.
Good to Know
- One design for all channel digests. The company, channel, and department digests share the design you choose. The managers' digest has its own format.
- Each digest covers a fixed period: the 7, 14, or 28 days before it sends, or the previous calendar month for a monthly digest. A monthly digest that lands on a weekend sends the next weekday.
- Department channels are set once. Under All settings, assign each department its channel. Departments with no channel are skipped, and celebration digests use the same list.
- Private channels stay private. A shoutout from a private channel is quoted only in that channel's own digest.
- Quiet periods are skipped. If nobody sent a shoutout, nothing posts.
Used the Shoutout Leaderboard Report or Shoutout Day?
The Shoutout Leaderboard Report is now the All Shoutouts digest. Your channel, schedule, sections, and headline carried over automatically, so it keeps posting as before. Edit it under All settings.
Shoutout Day has been phased out and replaced by nudges, which remind a channel, department, or manager to recognize someone. If your workspace used Shoutout Day, it was moved to a channel nudge on the same channel and days. See Set Up Shoutout Nudges.
Celebrating birthdays and anniversaries too? See Set Up Celebration Digests.
